Polish Investment and Trade Agency's (PAIH) has opened a new office based in Taipei. The aim is to help Polish entrepreneurs promote domestic products and establish business contacts in the region alongside obtaining Taiwanese investment.
Taiwan ranks among the top 10 largest Asian trading partners for Poland. The PAIH Vice President Wojciech Fedko announced in a press release on Wednesday that the agency knew it had to be in Taipei in order to give its support to continued collaboration and cooperation.
Not only is Tawan one of the most economically developed areas it is also an economic power; a so-called ‘Asian Tiger’. Taiwan’s success is based mainly on SMEs alongside some larger corporations that have expended worldwide. The IT and metallurgical industries have played a key role in this economic growth.
PAIH aims to reverse the trend where Poland has had a trade deficit with by systematically promoting Polish business and Polish produced goods.
Fedko also indicated that some of the most promising areas of growth for Polish companies exist within the field of biotechnology, IT, communications, cosmetics, food, para-pharmaceuticals production and green technology.
The main task of the Polish office in Taipei is to acquire significant investment for the Polish economy. At present Taiwan does not have significant capital investment in Poland despite having large foreign currency reserves.
The opening of the new PAIH office has enabled the Polish representatives to meet with some of the dozen investors who are already operating in Poland as well as connecting with others who have expressed an interest in investing in the country.
