Verne, a pioneering company in urban autonomous vehicles, will utilize 28,500 square meters at VGP Park Zagreb to manufacture its innovative robotaxis. The first of these autonomous taxis are expected to debut on the streets of Zagreb by 2026.
VGP Park Zagreb, situated in Lucko near Zagreb on an 8-hectare plot, offers ample space for future expansion. Verne will occupy the entire park, using the investment to develop its autonomous urban mobility ecosystem. This project includes not only autonomous electric taxis but also the creation of an urban infrastructure, featuring a network of charging stations and an app to facilitate the service. Following Zagreb, Verne plans to launch robotaxis in the UK and Germany by 2027.
Verne is supported by Tasaru Mobility Investments, owned by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, and South Korean conglomerate Kia, among others. The company was co-founded by Mate Rimac, the director of Rimac Group, which counts Porsche among its shareholders. Verne has already secured preliminary agreements to deploy autonomous taxis in several European cities.
VGP Park Zagreb, located just 10 kilometers from the city center and a 15-minute drive from the airport, offers excellent connectivity with access to the E-70 and E-65 motorways. Construction is set to begin this summer, with the factory designed to achieve BREEAM certification at the Excellent level and meet the environmental objectives outlined in the EU Taxonomy.
This new facility marks a significant step forward in the development of sustainable urban mobility solutions, positioning Zagreb as a leader in the deployment of autonomous vehicle technology.
