International Firm Pledges BGN 107 Million for Advanced Manufacturing Plant in Plovdiv, Creating Over 100 Jobs
In a groundbreaking move, the Minister of Economy, Bogdan Bogdanov, announced the start of construction on Schneider Electric's innovative facility for electrical components within the "Thrace Economic Zone" adjacent to Plovdiv. This strategic investment, amounting to BGN 107 million, is set to create 115 new job positions, heralding a fresh chapter of state-investor cooperation. Minister Bogdanov highlighted the project as a key turning point in the government's investment strategy, transitioning from a traditionally passive role to an engaged facilitator of substantial investment projects. This initiative stands out as the first to benefit directly from state aid, showcasing a committed effort to stimulate economic expansion and employment generation.
Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, Martin Gikov, further illuminated the ministry's dedicated push towards investment attraction, with 24 certificates issued since last June under the Investment Promotion Act. These efforts have mobilized investments exceeding BGN 510 million, leading to the creation of 2,064 jobs, signifying robust support for both local and international investors. Minister Bogdanov assured the business community of tangible and consistent support, offering incentives up to 60% of eligible investment expenses to encourage further capital infusion and drive nationwide economic progress.
Scheduled for completion within a year, the new facility near Plovdiv is expected to embody innovation through the use of advanced technologies, modern equipment, and eco-friendly practices. This includes adopting carbon-neutral building materials and renewable energy sources, positioning the plant as a beacon of sustainable manufacturing.
The launch event was graced by the presence of His Excellency Joël Meyer, Ambassador of France to Bulgaria, highlighting the importance of international partnerships in fostering economic growth, underscoring the project's role in enhancing Bulgaria's industrial landscape and economic vitality.
