Enhancing Water Efficiency at Our Bulgarian Mill: A Commitment to Sustainability

At our core, we're dedicated to minimizing water consumption and optimizing water reuse across all operational facets. Embracing efficient, sustainable water management and investing in modern water infrastructure are at the forefront of our efforts to mitigate the impact of our activities on local water resources, especially in areas facing significant water scarcity risks.

Our vigilance in tracking water usage and ensuring its return to natural water bodies is stringent. In 2023, we successfully reintroduced 92% of utilized water back into the aquatic ecosystem.

A standout initiative from our Stambolijski mill in Bulgaria highlights our dedication to water conservation. This year, the mill's team pinpointed strategies to curtail water usage within its pulp and paper manufacturing processes. This was achieved through the integration of a turbo blower within the paper machine and the addition of a cooling tower to the turbine and evaporation sectors.

These strategic enhancements have led to a remarkable 30% reduction in direct water usage at the mill, compared to our 2020 figures.

Water plays a pivotal role in the pulp and paper manufacturing process, and it's our duty to manage this resource with the utmost efficiency. By advancing our water recycling measures, we not only conserve water but also boost our operational energy efficiency, as conserving warm water also equates to energy savings.
