AB Akola Group is set to invest EUR 9.5 million in the establishment of a cutting-edge seed production facility in Latvia, aiming for a launch by mid-2025. This initiative, led by its subsidiary SIA Dotnuva Seeds, will see the construction of the factory on company-owned property in Iecava. Designed to handle an impressive annual throughput of approximately 30 thousand tons of cereal and leguminous plant seeds, this project marks a significant advancement in agricultural seed technology.
The company is excited to incorporate a pioneering seed preparation technology into the factory's design, promising to elevate seed production to new levels of sustainability. "Our team has recently explored a facility where this innovative technology is in use, assessing its efficacy and application. We are committed to integrating this technology into our new factory's infrastructure, with the anticipation of adopting it fully in the foreseeable future. We project a return on this investment within seven years," commented Mažvydas Šileika, the Chief Financial Officer of AB Akola Group.
Spanning a total of 4,550 square meters, the new facility will feature a dedicated production area, ample storage space, and a two-story administrative building equipped with a modern laboratory, office spaces, and essential technical facilities, setting a new benchmark for seed production efficiency and sustainability.
