To strengthen its barrier film supply capabilities in Europe and meet the growing global demand for eco-friendly packaging, Toppan Packaging Czech, a Toppan Group company, has started constructing a new plant in the Czech Republic. This facility will produce GL Barrier transparent barrier film, designed for sustainable packaging solutions.
Groundbreaking Ceremony Highlights
The groundbreaking ceremony featured distinguished guests, including His Excellency Hideo Suzuki, the Japanese ambassador to the Czech Republic, Czech Senator Jan Paparega, and Jan Schiller, governor of the Ústí region. They joined Toppan’s managing executive officer, Masahiko Tatewaki, and deputy head of global packaging, Hiroshi Suzuki, in praying for the plant’s safe construction. The plant is expected to begin operations at the end of 2024, serving as a strategic base to meet the increasing demand for sustainable products in the European market.
Commitment to Sustainability and Innovation
Masahiko Tatewaki expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the establishment of Toppan’s first Czech site in the city of Most, stating, “Establishing a European base for our GL Barrier business has been a long-standing wish. Our barrier film is not only a sustainable and recyclable product but also uses the most advanced technology in the world.”
