In recent years, Armenia has been tasked with becoming ‘greener’ and they have now received some help in the shape of a €2 million grant from the E5P fund. With the introduction of a new landfill, it will benefit all those based in the Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions.
Known as the Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership fund (E5P), the project is managed by the EBRD who signed the most recent agreement with the Ministry of Finance for Armenia. At the facility, modern solid-waste equipment will be installed in order to benefit local residents not only environmentally but also on a social level.
Back in December 2014, work actually started with a €3.5 million EBRD loan alongside a grant of the same value from the EU Neighbourhood Investment Facility. With this latest addition, the landfill will certainly be making process in the coming months.
