Finnish meal kit service Ruokaboksi is making its entry into Central Eastern Europe (CEE) by launching operations in the Czech Republic this fall. After acquiring an Estonian company and setting up an office in Prague, Ruokaboksi is poised to tap into the growing demand for convenient meal solutions in the region. CEO Juhana Rintala is confident in the company’s growth prospects, thanks to several million euros in backing from investors such as Suomen Teollisuussijoitus (Tesi) and Nordic Foodtech VC.
Ruokaboksi delivers weekly meal kits containing fresh ingredients and easy-to-follow recipes for 3–4 home-cooked meals. The service prioritizes local producers and seasonal ingredients, catering to customers seeking high-quality, convenient food solutions. With over 180,000 customers already in Finland, Ruokaboksi aims to replicate its success in the Czech market, especially as remote work trends drive demand for at-home meal services.
This expansion marks a significant step for Ruokaboksi’s presence in the CEE market, with the company building partnerships to strengthen its foothold in the region and scale its business across Europe.
