We call it Clamping Devices, but differentiate according to their function between Safety Catchers, Locking Devices and Safety Locks.
In 1979, the SITEMA - Gesellschaft f�r SIcherheitsTEchnik und MAschinenbau�mbH ( Corporation for Safety Technology and Engineering ) - was founded with the objective to explore and develop the market for shaft clamping units.
The starting point was the invention of the first safety device for heavy-load hydraulic elevators, which acts as an emergency brake on the piston shaft instead on the rails. World-wide this was the first system that covered the obvious safety defects in existing methods, and that was accepted by the responsible safety authorities. On the basis of this technology, today's large family of SITEMA Safety Catchers for machines and installations has been further developed and perfected.
Especially for small diameters and loads also SITEMA Safety Brakes and Safety Locks are available.
A second field of activity are the SITEMA Locking Units: shaft clamping units for applications that require accurate locking against external forces. This units can also be used as restraint devices and emergency brakes for the moving axes in machine tools.
As specialists for switchable clamping units of all type and sizes, SITEMA is renowned for its decades of experience, its mature technology, and its high standard of quality. SITEMA is continually developing its products, and is therefore always able to offer the solutions that the market requires. SITEMA also provides special solutions to unusual "clamping tasks" for demanding and reputable customers, which can be realized as single items as well as in large series.
Since the beginning SITEMA always ensured high quality of their products and their manufacturing process. So for example each single clamping unit (100%) is tested for function and holding force. The obtained test records are filed and can be provided upon request. For these quality reasons the company is also certified according to ISO 9001:2000.
