Capital clippers
Capital builds more types and sizes of cutters than any other manufacturer in the world. Whatever the material or the specific cutting requirements, from the thinnest material to metals; from 100 cuts per minute to 1000, Capital clippers perform! You have a choice of cutting actions; straight with a cutting stick, angled with a shear bar, and even a sine wave motion. Capital clippers are available in sizes from 36" (91.4cm) to 213" (541cm) with knife openings up to 6" (15.2cm). We have mechanical and air operation as well as an optional 3 position delivery table for clipping packs of veneer. We offer the latest in laser lighting for assisting your operators to find the cut line and scanner sensors for operator protection. Many options are available, contact Capital for assistance in determining how to solve your cutting problems!
Capital flitch planer
The Capital flitch planer is available in 30" (76.2cm) and 39.5" (100.3cm) models, with or without an integrated groover. This massive machine will plane both the top and bottom of the flitch to provide a flat mounting surface and to remove the initial waste before the flitch even gets to the slicer. The conveyor can be linked to your existing flitch movement system. A laser alignment light shows the operator where the cut line will be and allows precision preparation of the flitch. The variable speed drive allows the operator complete control of the movement of the conveyor and the safety circuits limit the speed of the conveyor as the flitch is being planed. Many other options are available, please contact us for further details.
Capital hog
The Capital hog allows you to become more energy efficient by using your scrap veneer to provide fuel for your boilers. High quality wood waste generates more BTUs allowing your plant to become self-sufficient. Excess can be sold to makers of particle or flake board at a profit. In some plants, wood-fired boilers provide the steam for drying the veneer as well as for cooking the logs. Additional steam could be used to generate electricity, so your Capital Hog doesn't cost you money, it makes important profits for you. Hogs can be supplied with either a hopper feed or conveyor feed to give you the flexibility to place the scrap hog where it assists your operation the most. Roller bearings and rugged construction means extra long life and freedom from down time.
Capital Staylog Lathe
The Capital Staylog Lathe is a production machine, making 80 to 90 cuts per minute of veneer that is between 0.005" (0.127mm) and 0.165" (4.2mm). The thickness tolerance of the Lathe is 0.001" (0.025mm). The Tilt Pressure Cap allows the operator to quickly clean away debris and to whet the knife. This reduces the downtime on each shift that would be required to maintain the equipment. The Lathe is built with knife lengths from 125" (317.5cm) to 170" (431.8cm) and can take a flitch up to 30" (76.2cm) in radius. Two grooves are used to attach the flitch to the Staylog. The Reduced Core option can provide up to a 13% additional yield. Specifications 72" (183cm) swing Knife lengths - 170" (431.8cm), 150" (318cm), 125" (317.5cm) Cuts from 0.005" (0.127mm) to 0.165" (4.2mm) Grooving machines are available to quickly prepare the flitch for use with the hydraulic gripping dogs of the Capital Staylog Lathe. An option to add grooving knives is also available for the Flitch Planer.
Slicers
Capital slicers are made specifically for the production of the finest face veneers in the world. Their precise, close tolerance cutting ability is demonstrated by the fact that they are the only slicers in the world capable of cutting veneer as thin as 0.005" (0.127 mm) and as thick as 0.250" (6.35 mm). Our massive, over-engineered, heavy design has set the standard for the industry for generations. It is common for Capital Slicers to be in daily use for as many as 90 years. Capital's patented Computer Lead System can save up to 25 minutes per shift when used with the patented Capital Flitch Master feed and thickness controls system. The Capital slicer is available with knife lengths of: 118" (299.7cm) 165" (419.1cm) 185" (469.9cm) 213" (541cm) 225" (571.5cm) The opening capacity and stroke sizes available are: 30" x 30" (76.2cm) 34" x 34" (86.4cm) 39.5" x 39.5" (100.3cm) 51" x 51" (129.5cm) Many other options are available to customize your Capital Slicer, please contact us for more details.

WTT - VACUUM DRYER WITH "SMOKING" EQUIPMENT
Noble and dark wood colours by new WTT procedure Veneers, boards and even strong and massive wood planks are thoroughly coloured by a completely new procedure for treatment of tannin-bearing timber. Wood species especially suited for this treatment are oak and acacia. The technical equipment needed for this process is supplied as additional device for the WTT vacuum drying plant, whereby "smoking" with ammonia is accomplished in an additional step to the drying process. The obvious advantage of this concept is that the plant is capable of operating with this special treatment while being fully functional as one of our traditional vacuum dryers as well. Even thick oak planks (65mm) are through-coloured perfectly within approximately two weeks. This should be seen in contrast to existing smoking systems that with the double time consumption are capable only of colour penetrating a few millimetres into the timber. A further substantial advantage of the WTT "smoke"-drying procedure can be found in a completely new subsequent treatment procedure whereby a smell-free wood product is available immediately at the end of the treatment. Until now it has been necessary to store the smoke-treated timber several weeks in buildings equipped with costly air purification systems. Implementation of the newest technology ensures that all requirements regarding impact to the surrounding air and water are met immediately, as is the case with requirements to operational and industrial safety. Thus only short time is needed to obtain the operation permit of this plant type. The first two vacuum drying plants equipped with the smoking feature were taken into use recently by a German oak wood and veneers specialist.
